The Fort Lauderdale Sharks Move Into A Tie For First Place In The ABL

Updated Sunday June 14, 2015 by American Basketball League.

The Fort Lauderdale Sharks wasted little time taking control of the Palm Beach Hurricane Saturday night in Fort Lauderdale, Florida by winning 107-81.

The Sharks used a 14-2 run midway through the second quarter to pull away from the Hurricane, which had to play without the service of their leading scorer and rebounder, Elijah Jones.

The Sharks played stingy defense and pressured the Hurricane into hurried shots throughout the entire first half which led to the Sharks double digit lead.

Anthony Brown, a 6'7" forward from the University of Central Oklahoma, controlled the boards all evening long by hauling in a game high 15 rebounds to go along with 14 points.  Derek Tartt, a 6'3" silky smooth combo guard from LeMoyne College led all scorers with 31 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Matt Rolle from Florida Memorial University also chipped in with 21 points.

The Palm Beach Hurricane were led by former George Washington University standout Bryan Bynes with 24 points and TT Hall's 20 points.

With the victory, the Sharks are now tied for first place with the Orlando Lightning.  The Sharks next travel to Orlando, Friday July 11th to battle the Lightning for first place.
